Home tube feeding prescriptions are written based on the type of delivery being utilized by the patient - Gravity, Bolus or Pump. Insurance companies typically only pay for one mode of administration so this decision is critical. A mixture of pump, bolus and gravity supplies cannot be sent to the patient. . The prescription goes to a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) company and that tells the DME what type of enteral nutrition delivery supplies to send send to the patient each month.
Pump supplies are typically prescribed for patients who need very slow nutrition delivery over a long period of time or don't have an active caregiver so the pump is programmed to deliver nutrition.
Active patients typically choose between bolus (syringe) or gravity tube feeding. The Bolee® Bag and all Bolink® Caps are reimbursed by insurance as gravity tube feeding products but have the flexibility to function as gravity or bolus.
A Gravity Kit (B4036 or S9341) with Bolee Bags and Bolink Large Caps and/or the Bolink D Cap and/or the Bolink Small Cap gives your patients options:
Prescriptions for gravity tube feeding with Bolee Bags and Bolink Caps give patients all of the products and the flexibility they need to gravity or bolus tube feed. Why prescribe anything else?
